Do you know what goes into your bodies when you use your daily body care products?

We all use body wash, body cleansers, shower foams, shower gels and even soaps on a daily basis. In addition, many of us use body moisturizers like body creams, body lotion, body butters in order to nourish our skin and keep it well hydrated and looking plump and healthy.

But do we know what goes into such daily use items which we put on our bodies and skin? Its always important to read the labels on these products when we purchase them. Ensure that the ingredients are botanical, natural and are not irritants to our bodies. This will be a great start to your #Selfcare journey.

Some common irritants include very common ingredients you’d find in many of these body care products – look out for these the next time you buy a body care product

Parabens : also present as butylparaben, isobutylparaben, methylparaben, propylparaben, or ethylparaben on product labels

Phthalates : dibutylphthalate (DBP), dimethylphthalate (DMP), and diethylphthalate (DEP).

Sulfates : A group of chemicals that are included in the category of salts, which are derivatives of sulfuric acid. Also known as sulfurous anhydride, sulfurous oxide, and sulfurous acid anhydride.

Synthetic fragrances : whilst it is nice to unwind in the shower or after a long day with nice-smelling body care products, do watch out for products that use synthetic fragrances (as opposed to botanical, natural ones like pure essential oil blends). Synthetic fragrances can cause skin irritations, coughing, migraines etc especially if you have some sensitivity to them. Always opt for products that derive their fragrances from natural essential oils or essential oil blends, otherwise, look for fragrance-free products.

There are many other ingredients in our daily use body and home care products that are harmful to your body and skin. So, do take time to read the labels, do some research and you can then choose products that are better for your bodies. Always prioritize your #Selfcare.
